  • Is Blepharitis Dry Eye?

I have blepharitis confirmed by an eye doctor. Before i had blepharitis, obviously i have never heard of this term. I have however heard of dry eye. Is dry eye the same as blepharitis or is it different? Is blepharitis a form of dry eye? Im very confused about this.

And if it isn't, what is worst. Dry eye or blepharitis?

For definitions of a lot of terms, go to the Dry Eye Zone homepage (www.dryeyezone.com).

At the top of the page is the word Encyclopedia. Click on it, then you can click on "b" for blepharitis or "d" for dry eye etc.

Here is an abstract (May 2012) of a meta-analysis on blepharitis: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22592706. I don't have the full-text, sorry.

Also Medscape is always very useful http://search.medscape.com/news-sear...xt=blepharitis

Docs help us as best they can by 'labelling' what they think we've got. And we need these diagnosis letters, and treatment. But I've found true diagnosis is more like an ongoing process with good docs, trying to work out what's actually happening eg with skin and eyes and body, so we can try things that help or fix it.
