Metrogel

Has anyone used Metrogel on their lids? I have seen some Eye Dr's prescribe it, but mine said it is not a good idea.

Mine said no, don't do that as MetroGel is not an opthalmic preparation suitable for the eye. However, I have heard of people doing so with helpful results.
