I would like to type this in the forum to dr. lakey but i cant get a proper question across within 100 words sadly.
Anyway Im looking for comments, knowledge, opinions on my issue.
I moved to a new town and am waiting to see a new ophthalmologist.
Anyway I was told by an eye doctor, and a specialist that I have blepharitis and dry eyes. This maybe true, but I believe i have other issues.
I have a discharge in my eye thats usually watery, and clear and thin, this according to my research indicates allergies. Im also waiting on allergy testing. I do sneeze a couple times a week, and am stuffed up daily.
The bigger issue is the past few weeks, my one eye has had a yellow discharge, and has been more bloodshot then usual in that corner.
The last time I had yellow discharge was maybe 2/3 years ago, i would get it often, with a cold, and in both eyes, and their was some yellow, but it was mainly white instead of a clear dischagrge. I never had this issue anymore with a cold after i started to lid cleaning, and using polsysporne eye drops, its always just been clear and thin for the the past few years.
Right now Im trying to figure out the cause.
It started 3 weeks ago, and the night before I burnt my eye lashes on the problematic eye starting a bbq.
A guest also used my eye drops that evening who claimed they had eye allergies, they didnt tell me until after. There eyes were fine the next day, i assumed it was just allergies. It is frustrating i have eye drops in my bathroom, mainly just refresh tears and people help themself to them. I need to remember to put them away.
A week later it went away. Then this week it returned. Now the night before, a guest who used my washroom told me they accidently knocked one into the garbage. I guess i didnt have the lid on good either and it came off. I used it without knowing this as well. They didnt mention it until i said my eye is bothering me again. Suffice to say I learned a lesson when guests come to put my eye drops away, and make sure the lid is on good. Im to used to me being the only one using my bathroom.
The next day it was back again.
So I figured it was bacterial, but why is it only hitting one eye? I use the drops in both?
Also another cause could be im on vacation and have not been cleaning my eyes as much. Could that be causing the yellow discharge instead of the clear discharge typically? Does clear discharge ever become yellow or bacterial if its not removed, or you dont clean your lids as much.
Lastly i take accutane for acne, well i used to have acne, i ran out two weeks ago, i dont have acne anymore, but my skins more oily, im going to get some tomorrow since it helps my skin, i only take 2 a week, could oily skin be affecting it? Again why only the one eye? Any other time I had yellow discharge it would be in both eyes, although that was typically from a cold, which maybe viral.
I have not had a yellow discharge or mucus build up in two years, that is since i started lid scrub treatment and using polysporn eye drops.
This would make more sense if it was hurting both eyes, but its just the one? Does anyone know what sounds like the cause? Im thinking maybe the bbq burning my lashes on that eye caused some trauma, but why would it go and come back a week later?
This is very confusing and doctors are baffled by eye problems already, the least I can do is try to determine a cause based on things im doing and exposed to, but I cant even narrow that down, again its only hurting my one eye. The possible infected drops were used in both.
