There have been discussions on the board before about these, they live in the base of the eyelashes, in the sebaceous glands...and I remember lots of us getting very concerned about having these and how to get rid of them etc. I certainly got into a right panic about it.
Well, I was watching a TV documentary the other night, which talked about these mites, as well as all the other millions of tiny creatures we have living on our bodies, and apparently the demodex perform quite a useful function, in that they clean up and eat a lot of the natural debris (excess oil, dead skin etc) that our eyelids and lashesnaturally produce.
So it's quite natural to have a certain amount of them - I suspect only a problem if they get out of control or over-multiply...or perhaps one of those scaremoongering stories that some sources like to create.
Just thought I would share that piece of info with everyone
