Dry eye buddy in 20s?

Hi all,

Is there anyone who's stable and doing reasonably well right now that would be willing to be a phone dry eye buddy for a little while to a young woman (20s) suffering severe depression from dry eye pain?

Has this lady been able to see her family doctor to explain her issues? As this is often over looked, but can be the quickest and best route forward.

East coast US... thank you though Colin!! Ahmed, thanks for the suggestion, I agree more people should try this but having seen a great many specialists etc she is not at present interested in more doctor visits.

She can call me if she wants, but I'd be more of a person who would just be there to listen and make her laugh, plus share about what I go through. However, in terms of giving her advice, maybe someone else would be better for that. It depends if she wants to talk to someone her own age or is looking for more of a mentor type person.

For me personally, I have a mentor friend that I met through this board, and she's been REALLY REALLY helpful for me.

Anyway, like mark, I'm also in Canada, so we'd have to use some other audio chat. Actually! Now that I think about it, I have a completely 100% free audio-only chat thing use once in a while which is really ez to download and set-up. Anyway, if she's interested you can definitely tell her to contact me!

Hi Rebecca. I am from NY but moved to The Netherlands about a month ago so I'd have to use Skype as well. But I'm also a female in my 20's so I can relate to what she is going through and am a good listener. Hi- late reply but I turned 30 but my dry eye onset was at 25. Quite a tough road but I've been healthy (non-depressed, highly functional eyes) since jan 09. Plus I look like I'm still in my 20's. If she/he needs another encouraging voice please let me know. I don't go on the website all too often so my personal email is the best way of contacting me.

I'll join the chorus and would be glad to speak with her on skype if she manages to deal with my terrible italian accent i'm 28 and can try to cheer her up with some stories from the messed up restaurant where i serve tables and anything else she could enjoy
