I used to think I was the only person in the world with this problem. It certainly helps to have the support of people on this forum. Thank goodness for the internet!

Hi tiger99, I am so sorry that you have to deal with people who cruel and lack any kindness or empathy. I am young and in my 20's and through this who DE ordeal, I've learned a lot about people and how the average person really lacks the capacity to feel any compassion. I have had to learn that my so-called "friends" could care less about how I feel, they have pretty much ditched me because I can no longer keep up with the activities I use to be able to with them. I have had to deal with condescending comments like Calcan, and have become quite anti-social. I am still learning how to deal with negative comments. All I can say is ignore these people, don't let your self-worth be defined by what these idiots say or do. I wish I could give you helpful advice as to how to deal with these, but I guess I do not have enough life experience for this. I can assure you that there are people out there who would never ever judge you based on your appearance and physical ailments; in fact, this board has some of the greatest people I have ever "met". If you are unhappy at your job, perhaps you can job hunt for a better one...some work environments are more supportive than others.

In terms of your red eyes, please stop using the OTC get the red out drops. They are hurting you in the long run. As for the medical profession, there are good doctors out there. Just keep looking. I would suggest that you try to see the doctor, rather than just calling to see if they can do certain procedures; docs cannot accurately assess what they can do for you without actually seeing you, or at least getting a good history. Maybe you can start by emailing a doctor...some really good docs will reply will a response. Or maybe, you can go see Dr. Latkany or Dr. Tseng or some kind of well known corneal specialist with an interest in dry eye/red eyes. Dr. Latkany is very good with replying his emails and phone calls.

That really hurt. I am a friendly person, but I end up being anti-social because of this condition. It seems like people are more understanding about skin conditions than they are about eye problems.
I used to know a girl who said she had a bad case of facial acne before I met her. She said people didnt even want to touch her. I experience that during the day too. She didnt have to interact with people everyday cause she had a transcriptionist job at home.

Luckily for her though, she finally took accutane (an anti-acne med) for a few months and it cleared it up without recurrence. She still never made any other female friends afterwards though. With men it was different cause of physical attraction.

I happen to know a guy with cerebral palsy. He walks with a foot-drag (I dont know the technical term for this). He says he gets made fun of pretty bad too.

urgh, silly comments..its something that I hate the most abt my eye case..I'm a person who used to terribly care abt the appearances. I always care abt how I look more than anything else in the whole world, so DES came to me like a shock, I had to rearrange my prespective.. And tell u what? It's one of the greatest thing that has happened to me! I mean I started to think wiser and deeper, always used to hang around with a bunch of losers who made fun of everybody, what hurt is that I realized later that everybody thought I was one of them..
DES has made it easier for me to know who is really good and who is bad.. It also has made me more confident about my inner-self -maybe its because all i've got now.. it has made me experience feelings that I never felt faith in higher power, pity, gratefulness and pain, although most of what I felt was really bad and it hurt but I can't deny that I learnt even more..
I get times that I can not stand the way I'm treated because of my eyes but when I deeply think of it I feel so relieved and happy about the person I am now..I'm sorry for all of whats happening to you at work, but hang on..their are building ur inner-strength, reforming you to a great person, by the help of DES of course.
