  • Dry eye question

    Hello,
    I am a 24 year old male.
I developed dry eye symtoms in my left eye in march this year.
I find taking an oral antihistamine tablet gets rid of the "foreign body" sensation in the eye.

I am trying to identify what is wrong with my eye.

    My question is:
Does antihistamine treat dry eye or would it make it worse?
By the fact that antihistamine gets rid of the eye irritation does this mean I have an allergy to something rather than dry eye?

    Thanks for your help

Antihistamines treat allergy not dry eye, and yes, they can be drying - though this doesn't mean they WILL be for you.

    What are your symptoms?

      Eye symtoms

      Thanks Rebbeca,

My symptoms vary... but are generally:
Foreign body sensation in the eye.
Eye clicks when it moves from side to side and sometimes when blinking.
A burning feeling and sometimes are raw feeling.
      They feel gluggy.
They often become quite blood shot.
The left eye is the main offender being more than 100 times worse than the right, the right eye is almost normal.
