    Finasteride

    TTD -

When I read Finasteride, I remembered a thread that I read on here a long time ago:

Hope that you get some relief soon.

Oh great, I have MGD, and I have plugs, and to be honest, I didn't think they'd made any difference, except feels like there's something permanently in my eyes. Do any of the medical profession know what they're doing!!??

In all honesty Sally, I don't think that many do know what they are doing. They have what is called a `range of measures' which are applied, perhaps in some sequence but I think it's often just done randomly. If X doesn't work, they try Y and so on.

Don't you find that bodily pain & discomfort decreases vitality and energy? The more severe my symptoms have become, the more aspects of life are being affected in a clinically meaningful level - and I'm concerned about that. I keep myself fit but I rarely feel fit and well. I don't think I function that well socially any more because I seldom feel at ease. Even as a friend, I feel that the role has emotional limitations because my dry eye is such a `burden'. I can't afford to have too many friends who are `in need' - because I can't be counted on to help them. Attending to my eyes is like a job where you don't have any time off.

It is very depressing when adaptive steps are insufficient to overcome the impact of dry eye. Getting doctors to understand that would be a start. I'm sorry to be moaning again. I didn't get on with plugs either.

Id have them removed, are they smart plugs (harder to remove), if they just sit on the top of the puntum that should be easy.. Dr toyos kept saying when he removed mine 'not a fan' 'not a fan' . I think they contributed to some inflammation in the corner of my left eye.

Ttdub ~ so sorry ~ you are very young to have this stuff. I'm so sorry you are going through this. There has to be a doctor somewhere that knows something about this stuff. I'm still searching too and I pray that soon you will find relief as well as a good doc.

I'm with Sally ~ does any doctor really know anything about dry eyes?

As far as the plugs go, if they are Smart Plugs (the ones that fit down into your tear duct) ~ be careful because those do get infected. My right one got infected last year and the doc that put them in didn't even figure it out, it took me three months to find a doc that knew what was going on. The left one got infected this year. But they just irrigate them out with a syringe. The thought of a syringe sounds bad, but it's not painful at all to have them removed.
