    Need Help for Computer

    Hi,
    i finally discovered that my tears don't have enough oil and i have MGD. So everytime i use Computer my eyes burn since i blink less....my doctor told me i should buy a protective glasses to have my eyes more moisted. Also i should add a brown tinted lens + prescription (-0.25).

    - Does anyone know a NICE :P looking model i could buy??

    - If i buy a Panoptx can i ask my optmetrist to change the Lenses???

    - How much would you think a goggle for computer would help....should i just buy a normal glasses (that would surely look better) with brown lenses???

    I have worn wrap around Umbro Sunglasses as much as possible and for me it reduces my symptoms by about 80%. The more of the eye that they cover the better. I understand it depends in what situation you are.....it can be very annoying to keep explaining to people why you are wearing sunglasses....and also when you are young it is important not to look too "freaky".

    I also intend to buy some Panopytx glasses, which i suspect that I will wear at home more than in public. I am sure that they will provide me even more protection.

    We all have different conditions and reasons for dry eyes, however I can tell you that for ten years my eyes were very difficult but now wearing sunglasses I can work for much longer periods on the computer.

    Without a stable tear film your eyes are at the mercy of all the elements; aircon, central heating, wind, simply walking through a room ... A good protective pair of glasses really does work miracles.

      thank you ...yes i ll surely get something a least for indoor use

      i was currently looking at the Panoptx Typhoon ...anyone has this model??? it looks cool but maybe i should get a model that protects more ...

        For computer use, you might also lower your monitor so that you are gazing down into it. Your eyes will be more closed that way and protected by your upper lid.

          That's an SR-80... the SR-100 models are much better for dry eye (Churada, Bora, Whirlwind, Diablo, Cyclone, Viento). But the SR-80s will still be much better than just plain glasses.

            computer monitory/screen tilt - YES!

            I echo Dianat's sentiment about looking down at the computer. . .What a huge difference that can make! . .There are also postural reasons not to be craning the neck upwards to see a computer screen. . .

            For those who can afford laptops, this option can provide the ultimate in good computer angling for dry eye. . .I have not been able to use a desktop, without also sitting on the equivalent of a tall bar stool, for years. . .but I am AOK with a laptop, because of that partial eyelid closure that it enables as I look downward towards the screen. . . .

            Among laptops, I favor those that have the highest length/width ratio for the monitor portion, because this keeps the top of the screen low, while adding viewing space laterally. . .

              yes i think that maybe lowering the monitors (Since i have 3 of them...i compose music) would be great...i don't think the brown lens would do a lot of difference..maybe just for the light of the monitor.....

              anyway thanks i think i will buy the Typhoon for outdoor as a sunglasses and i'll check some previous threads for a good moisture chamber glasses

                The other option as opposed to tinted glasses would be a filter for your screen. That might make more sense. There are all sorts of filters out there...cheap, expensive. They do different things. Of course, you'd need three of them. Maybe you could test on one first.

                  AHAHA i really don't know where to start for that...but i surely would add the noise of the drop that gets out from the vial and reaches the eye

                  anyway thanks yes..maybe a filter would be better than tinted lenses......i really don't know if they sell filters for 30" monitors ..i ll check
