I started at 50%. I don't know why a higher percentage would burn; that seems odd and likely related to contamination, not the drops themselves.
The only thing that I've heard, as a potential side effect, is that over 50% there are RARE cases of protein deposits, which can affect your vision. When I asked about going to 75%, my doctor let me know this so I could make an informed decision. Here's the thing though, not only are those situations rare but they are also reversible -- if you get them, all you need to do is either stop using the serum drops or decrease your % and the deposits will go away. For me, it was a no brainer since the risk was small and even if there were problems, they aren't permanent. I've been on 75% for about a year now and haven't had any issues.
