  • Oakley split jackets

    Hello,

Wanted to plug a new pair of glasses that I bought -- (and, I have no financial interests or connections to anything noted in this post) -

    Oakley split jackets:

They are a bit big - so, not sure if they would work for those with smaller faces. I also bought a "wind gasket" accessory kit - it clips into place and can be easily removed. It looks pretty dorky wearing, and looks like a pair of motorcycle glasses -- but, cuts down on the wind, fumes, etc that we all encounter with dry eyes. I find it useful for when I am not wearing my PROSE lenses.

also - the "switchlock" technology allows for changing lenses within this frame fairly easily - so, you could use multiple pair of lenses with this frame. You will need to get CNC/lathe to get the lenses made - as they are specially cut so they will fit in the frame.

Had them made at Heavy glare optics -

Staff there were very helpful for trying on frames, etc. Also - fast turnaround - I ordered them on Tue and they were ready on Fri.

My main issue is pain - and, it helps with that. I also have a vertical deviation in my eyes - I need a small bit of prism (which they incorporated)- and, I think having a wraparound lens that also had digital surfacing on the back helped with the optics. I only wear single vision - so can't comment on what it would be like with bifocals or progressive. But, what I can say is that the vision with these glasses is phenomenal. I would recommend anyone with dry eyes to consider trying a wraparound frame - and, get it digitally resurfaced on the back. Actually, I don't know what optician could make a wraparound frame w/o digitally resurfacing it - that's the norm. And, you won't be able to get plastic lenses in these frames, most likely - as, they want to ensure from a liability standpoint that they have at least polycarbonate in the lens material.

I'd been leaning toward larger glasses since having dry eyes to cut down on windflow, etc -- and, these help me. They fit really well with the "wind jacket" in. Not as well with it out.

The gasket works pretty well. I haven't had them fog up --

    Nikki
