Yes, I find the TranquilEyes goggles super itchy at night as well and I have tried the foam without the black cover (just grey foam). I also find that they just don't keep my eyes moist in the night. I end up throwing them off of my face in frustration and put on my soft night mask. I still wake up many times to put in drops though, so still need a solution. I think that I might order some of the NitEye patches and see if there is someway that I can re-use them.
I do find that I can wear TranquilEyes goggles during the day for short periods of time.

Speaking of eyewear... while killing time in Schipol airport (Amsterdam) yesterday afternoon I saw an enormous mural ad for some sunglasses that took my breath away. It was a dark, dramatic wraparound that looked like it would be awesome for dry eye coverage - and also like it could easily accommodate some subtle inner lining. I thought it was Chanel but I can't find it now on their website. It got me thinking though - browsing through some high-end designer eyewear - some of these current high-fashion sunglasses designs seriously look like they were DESIGNED with people like us in mind (though not necessarily our budgets ). Point being, there are designers out there with stuff that has utility AND looks, if we could just get someone interested in making a few mods for the dry eye crowd, whether one of the actual fashion houses or a cheaper knockoff manufacturer. Seriously, look at this and this. (Ok, well, maybe not this .)

I have definitely seen women in shopping malls wearing what appear to be designer sun glasses. I've seen this multiple times in an upscale neighborhood by me, and I doubt they were all dry eye patients. It seems that big sunglasses are in these days and although there is no lining on them, they are big enough to cover the eye from brow bone to cheek bone and alot of them are wrap-around which should make a pretty decent barrier.
