Fits over Glasses moisture goggle

I was in the Harley-Davidson store this afternoon, looking at Panoptx, and noticed another product that might really work for glasses-wearers.

Guard-Dogs Goggles

They are only $35 and come with a choices of lens colors, including clear. I tried one on and they are pretty comfortable. They look similar to Panoptx with a vented area and soft foam--but have a headstrap, not ear-pieces.

Guard Dogs over-glasses goggles.

Hi--just to follow-up on the Guard-Dogs. I went out this afternoon and bought a pair to go over my glasses. Called "Evader I"--or should I say "Invader I"--as in space alien. I think this is the smallest they had--my glasses fit into it well. They also had some larger sizes that fit over bigger glasses, which looked more like standard moto-cross goggles.

The construction is fairly simple: plastic frame (deep sides) with small vents top and bottom in each eye cup. There's a dual-layer foam (higher density layer against frame and soft foam next to face) around the frame perimeter to block air. It's pretty comfortable--light-weight and flexible headband. The only "weakness" I see so far is the foam's adhesive seems a bit weak and it might pull away from the plastic.

It comes with the grey lenses (shown) and also a clear set. It cost me $50 (at the Harley-Davidson store).

Calli, thanks for the pictures and description. This is certainly cheaper than buying Panoptx (especially with RX and bifocals)! Although I love my Panoptx goggles, they stay the same script even if my eyes change. This way a person wearing glasses could just pop these on and go. I always have to carry my regular glasses and Panoptx goggles anyhow.

Fits-over-glasses

My "Clic" goggles just arrived today. They fit over my smaller eye glasses, and the design is really cool, but they don't fit close enough around my eyes. They have a nice foam, and they can be made smaller, they just didn't work for me. I'll try the "Space Invaders", next. It would be nice to have some fit-overs.

Oh, how we're all different! Elaine, I have a pair of clic goggles given to me by Cindy. They won't fit over my smallest glasses (those are really small) but, I have a real tight fit with them without glasses. I didn't get to try on different sizes of clic's. Cindy just said "here, if you want them." I did. They are orange mirrored--no wonder she didn't want them.

why they can't make something like this that had temples instead of the headstrap? For around the house, I don't mind goggles. I have worn some safety goggles already. But for going out, I just can seem to want to wear goggles.

those Guard Dogs are compelling - and fabalus!

Thank you so much for posting on the Guard Dogs. . .Wow. . .I think this may be the first acceptable-looking over-glasses goggle I've encountered, that comes in clear lenses. . .This can be the stopgap, the emergency product, to keep on hand if moisture chambers or Panoptyx need to go to the shop, or get lost. . .I feel great knowing that it's now possible simply to get regular glasses, with an up-to-date Rx (as Lucy so astutely noted: changing Rx in a Panoptyx or moisture chamber can be prohibitive), and then pop something over them in order to get out and about. . .For us severe myope/presbyopes, this is fabalus news!!!

Update on my Guard-Dogs experience.

I spent some time at my mother's house in Boulder, Colorado. Couldn't wear my contacts at all while there--even though there is more humidity there than where I live...pollen? dust-mites? (my mom's house is stuffed with "stuff").

So...wore the Guard-Dogs over glasses, at least some. My daughter came for her vacation at the same time, and took me for a LONG hike in Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park. I was hesitant to wear the Guard-Dogs, so I just wore the normal fit-over sunglasses. Hike was great, but my eyes were RAW by the end of that day.

Next day, we went to Sand Dunes Nat'l Park, and I wore the G-D's all day, in the car, on the hike, etc. My eyes were wrecked from the day before, and were barely stable.

But--the good thing was--I felt almost like a "normal" person. Hiked the dunes in all that blaring sun and dry wind with no ill effects.

Downside with fit-over goggles and even Panoptx for me is this: My face seems to SWEAT an inordinate amount when I wear them. The foam linings are soaked with sweat and my forehead drips profusely! I am amazed at the quantity of liquid! I guess the moisture would normally evaporate, but the goggles trap it on my face.

Rojzen-- do your moisture-chamber glasses cause the extra perspiration?

The lovely account of the day wearing Guard Dogs is heartening. . .

I am now in the start of my 10th year with a TBUT of 0 seconds, but thanks to wearing my moisture chambers (pictured earlier) all day, every day, I can go outdoors and work at the computer for long stretches with no harm done. . .I'm a case in which my symptoms (windy sensation in eyes, even in still air) would make it impossible for me to do anything without the moisture chambers or a goggle, and so this has forced me to wear something all the time, and the results in protection of my ocular surface have been significant and measurable . .

The Eagle Vision moisture chambers are so delicate that they do not cause me to sweat at all, outside the glasses. . .Steam does build up inside them, sometimes, but this is what I need, and so I don't discourage it. . .At extreme moments, I just remove the glasses for a moment to reduce the fogging. . .This is necessary only once in a blue moon. . .Moisture chambers can be cut specifically to allow a little air in, to prevent fogging. . .plus, pinholes can be made in the plastic, to the same effect. . .

I have found, though, that heavier goggles, especially if held on by a tight strap, can cause me not to sweat facially, but to have breathing problems. . .They're usually so big that they press down on my nose and nearly shut the nostrils. . .Ugh. . .That's been my main issue with the heavier-duty items, which I otherwise love. . .

Additional Guard-Dog Fit-over glasses goggles

Hi, I'm very new to this forum. I've seen posts here about the Guard-Dog Evader I & II Goggles. However, I just discovered on their website that they have 4 other models of fit-over glasses goggles. They are: Commander I & II and Scriptor I & II. The Commander models are a little smaller than the others, so they might be better for people with small faces and small prescription eyeglasses (like me). Does anyone here have experience with these Guard-Dog models? I wonder if they seal around the face as well as the Evader models.

I think the Commander and Scriptor styles might be larger than the Evader--the lens material is continuous in the nose bridge area (a single piece) rather than having two separate lenses. I bought mine at a local Harley store, and noticed the larger over-Rx model there--it looked bigger than the Evader--more like a regular goggle.

I mentioned in a previous post that the foam liner might become loose in the nose area. I just called the company this week to ask about that, and found out that they will replace the foam for free as many times as needed--no shipping costs--so that's good.

They work well for me, but I feel self-conscious when wearing them where there are lots of people (like in stores).
