Hi i am new to this board and have been suffering from dry eye for about 4 months. I live in the uk and have seen an opthalmic surgeon who has sent me away with celluvisc and eye gel which i am wondering whether to stop using at night as have read your advice about blockage etc. The pain is getting worse and with my other chronic health poblems i am now very depressed. I am trying very hard to "hang on" here and not let this get on top of me so am wondering where on earth i can get some panoptyx specs in the uk? I have gone to most of the bike shops i know and they just look at me strangely and say no. Does anybody know if they are called something different in the uk?
Would be so very gratefull for any advice as am now very low. Will be contacting the people in the uk who sell tranquil eyes as want to give it a good go.

Do you dry out badly at night - have 'stuck lids' or painful gritty eyes in the morning? If so, I think you're on the right track with tranquileyes and perhaps a non greasy lubricant to put on before donning it. Or you can try a simple sleep mask of some kind (see www.dryeyeshop.com for some examples) which you can usually get at travel shops.

As far as I know they are not available retail in the UK but if I'm wrong I'm sure one of our UK members will speak up. Is there a Harley Davidson dealership anywhere near? They may have some other styles with foam gaskets in them. Also, check out the moisture shield from Eagle Vision and see if you can persuade a local optician to get it and fit it onto a pair of specs for you. If you do not normally wear glasses, you could still get some with plano lenses (no prescription).

Fitovers for a partial-temporary fix

[This will be useful primarily for those who already wear some sort of prescription glasses, since Fitovers may be too big to be worn alone...Also, it is possible that the tint on those Fitovers that are locally available may be too dark for indoor use. . .]

Thinking back to the days before I discovered custom-fit moisture chambers for my regular glasses, I recall how pleasantly surprised i was by the relief afforded by plain-old Fitover sunglasses. . .(It was wearing these that actually tipped me off to the fact that a mechanical solution would be wonderful. . .) Anyway, while Panoptyx and the developers of the upcoming Micro-environment glasses are still figuring out how and where to market their products, and custom moisture chambers still necessitate travel to the few who know how to make these, how about trying some Fitovers? If you can find these only in tinted lenses, perhaps local stores will carry the tints that are a little lighter, in the yellow/orange range. . I actually wear Fitovers OVER my clear moisture chamber glasses, while driving, and I use a pair that has a delightful yellowish hue. . .The world looks brighter and crisper, and not really darker. . .AND my eyes get a real break. . .
