  • Tips for Panoptx fit??

    Hello!!

I excitedly picked up my new Panoptx glasses yesterday. Unfortunately, I don't think they fit me correctly!! The store model seemed to fit fine, but had a very dark lens. I notice now with the lighter lens that there is a slight gap between my temples and the foam. Additionally, the tops of the glasses don't fit snuggly to my face. Are they supposed to fit snuggly? Is that possible given that there is no strap around the back to hold them close (like ski goggles)?

I have a small face and fear that the Panoptx just aren't going to work for me. Fortunately, I can take this pair back for a full refund.

If any of you Panoptx fans can give me a few tips on fit I would really appreciate. I guess I will check out the Wylie X brand as well.

I sure would like to get back outside without fear of the wind!!

    Thanks!! MyDryEyes

I wear Panoptx Viento and have a pretty small face as well. Other small faces I know from DEZ have done well with the Viento as well. They fit good and snug, but for outdoor activities like biking or the like, the strap is a must.

I've tried other styles of PanOptx on - granted it's been a while - and didn't feel the fit was right for me. I may look into the Solano soon just for something different, but haven't had one on my face yet to know the fit.

I can actually wear my Vientos without the strap much of the time even outdoors so long as it isn't windy.

I have Panoptx in Sirocco (not sure if they still make this) and they are a bit big on me. I knew this but it was the best I could do with prescription lens and progressive bifocals. I'm wearing them in my avatar--not that you can tell alot. They have transition lens and are dark in the sun, lighten up inside.

I also have a pair of Viento sunglasses without prescription. They fit me, but are bad on peripheral vision. If I need a quick pair to wear outdoors in the yard and can't find my RX Panoptx, I'll put these on. Without glasses though I don't see much. It does keep the wind away. The Viento would not be good for ME to pay for prescription as I said my vision for driving etc wouldn't be good. My actual size is somewhere between the Sirocco and Viento.

Sirocco went through a minor temple re-styling and was re-named Churada.

Viento are about to be discontinued so if you find some and they fit, snap them up! I have a few pairs here that I'm hoarding.

Lucy, did you ever try the Solano? It's a nice medium between those two and I think of it as the best all-around women's style - very versatile as regards the many face shapes it does well on. Naturally, it too is being discontinued. They're launching one new style in April or thereabouts that is supposed to be around the same size.

Weird thing about Churada... back when it was Sirocco it seems like it was so popular but these days I'd say 75% of the ladies that buy Churada in the dry eye shop return them due to fitting problems. I feel like I'm running a mobile Panoptx fitting center sometimes. But many people have no dealer within 100 miles.

Will Panopx be introducing a smaller frame size like the Viento? I'm not against a new style, but would hope not to find myself struggling to find a small frame and there isn't one.

Thanks for the info. My goggles equipped with RX and bifocals are at least $500 so I can't change just because. I'm scleral lens/glasses poor. I have more invested post-lasik in remedies to see better than my last new car cost. Oh-I shouldn't think of that. Drat.

P.S. My Sirocco's still work well and I haven't lost them, so that's a miracle. I should order new foam for them.

Rebecca: I tried on Panoptx at a Harley Davidson dealership a couple of months ago, and the Diablos seemed to fit me best. The salesperson said Panoptx was going to discontinue the Diablo and bring out a different model in 2008. Have you heard that, or do you think she got the name of the model wrong?

Diablo is definitely being retained (and under the same model name). The temple is being modified slightly - mostly cosmetic changes I think - but overall it should be the same as it was. I just spoke with sales to confirm this.

I think either they got the name wrong (Solano is the only Velocity CV model being discontinued) OR they're referring to the change that is coming later. The entire CV lineup is scheduled to be terminated at the end of this year and replaced with a different technology, in part because of the patent situation.

                      I went with Wiley-X

                      Hi All,

I had to return my Churadas because they just didn't fit. I had to move to the Wiley-X brand. The "brick" style fits my face almost perfectly and they do seem to help with the wind, especially if I wear the goggle strap. They are also helping hold in the eye drops, but I feel pretty sad that I even need to wear them at all. I miss my contacts and clunky old glasses!!

                        Anti-fog methods with Wiley-X

One more thing to add to this string - does anybody know how to reduce fogging? I take the fogging as a good sign because it must mean there is moisture in there, but it sure makes it hard to do stuff, especially driving. Does anybody know of a good, non-irritating, anti-fogger??

Brought a pair of Sirocco CV sunglasses

                          Hello everyone

Sorry don't know about anti fogging. Having looked at a few brands on the internet a lot of them said they have an anti fog coating or that the foam vents take away moisture. I have not tried any yet so don't know if it works. Maybe you could buy a pair that have the anti fog function or try putting holes in the foam bits of your glasses.

I've just ordered a pair of Sirrocco CV day to night sunglasses. They look very much like the Churada type but were going at a cheaper price as end of line. I got them because i think they said small to medium fit and looked like a normal pair of glasses (as much as they could with foam cups). I live in the UK so I am unable to try on Panoptx glasses before i buy. I am hoping to be able to wear them in work meetings (where i sometimes have to put up with forced dry air heaters). I thought if i got these with the day to night then when indoors people won't wander why I am wearing sunglasses. I'm a little worried though that they will be too big as i have a small face. I'll let you know when i get them how the fit is!
I was considering buying the Viento pair as they are a good shape, the foaming bit looks like it can be less big because the glasses are curved more, i.e. closer fitting to the face. But the only ones i could see were in jet black or jade green. Not wishing to sound fussy but i think black is quite harsh and worried with clear glass it would look like a pair of motorcycle goggles (not a good look at work) and the green pair would attract attention as unusual colour. The Sirrocco ones i have ordered are a light coloured brown which suits my colouring. AM I being too optismistic? Will these still look out of place because of the cups or are they not too noticable?? I normally wear ordinary glasses at work to help with the dryness but need a little more help in very dry rooms. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else wears these panoptx (or similar) glasses in a work environment and which type you wear.
                          Bye for now...

                            Hi Caroline

...I don't think that's an accurate description. Much as I do not want to be discouraging, I would say realistically, I know a handful of people who wear Panoptx successfully 24x7 but most people are unwilling to wear them in a work environment because they do rather stand out.

Viento or Solano are usually the best on small faces but your instinct is right about the black with a clear lens. The green though... If you mean the "jade" Solano, it's not like a brilliant green, the most recent pair I had in stock here was almost an olive and rather a stripey texture like olive and dark grey mottled stripe. Solano used to be made in dark tortoise which was beautiful but Viento is available only in matte black.

For those needing something cosmetically acceptable for business, I think that the best best is either a custom moisture chamber (those flexible transparent panels that can be fitted to an ordinary pair of glasses... it can be very subtle if well done) or wait for one of the new products to come out - one in particular that I've been waiting on for some time will I think be a real winner. Unfortunately new products are almost always subject to late stage development hiccups so it's hard to know about timing but it shouldn't be long now at all. Meantime Panoptx are terrific for outdoors and also indoors esp. computer, reading, etc.

What people can tolerate at work is very individual. I know some few women and some men who wear Panoptx during all work hours. I also know some men who wear swim goggles at work but mostly only in their own (enclosed) office.

                              Solano

                              Hi Rebecca,

Thanks very much for your reply. I kind of expected they probably wouldn't look great at work. Just hope they fit well enough so i can wear them cycling and indoors. Not sure of Panoptx policy on returning glasses that don't fit...

I've gone back into Paonoptx.com and looked under the "motorcycle" section and found tortious solano day to night and also the same in jade. My problem was i couldn't find tortious in the day to night only dawn to dusk. Still they are out of stock at the moment. Maybe i will try these for a better look. Also seen another "small to medium" smart looking pair on Panoptx called Avanti!!! Has anyone tried these? Are they as good a fit as Solano or viento?

                              Best wishes
                              Caroline
