  • Glasses recommendation for being in mall?

OK, weird question, but I have what I would consider moderate dry eye. I just started Dwelle & Nutratear, and doing warm compresses the other day. I do have punctal plugs but will also be (hoepfully) seeing a dry eye specialist over the next month or so.

My question is this: I am a makeup artist and spend a lot of time in the mall testing makeup and looking for different makeup lines. My eyes ALWAYS turn bright red in fluorescent light. I mean, "my god, has that girl been smoking something?" red! It is horrible.

I am wondering, is there a somewhat fashionable pair of glasses that may help cut down on that redness while I am in this kind of lighting? Not sure if wearing glasses would help at all, but if I got a pair, that would need to have limited tinting so I could see colors as well as possible.

    Suggestions????

    Thanks everyone

    Hi,

I'm just wondering as a makeup artist do you have any opinion on the product collyre bleu drops?

it's not a weird question! until we find a solution we must do something....i mean for example a lot of people uses make up to hide some skin problems ecc...so don t worry!
try tinted lens on a glasses model that doesn t look a sunglasses, choose a color that is good on you based also on your skin (if you are quite pale i would use a soft color)......also a tinted lens that is darker in the upper part and gets less dark on the bottom so it doesn t look a suglasses at all ! that's what i use ....i also play piano so often i really look like elthon john !

Where can I get glasses like that? Will I need to spend a small fortune? Do you think it will help with the redness?

Do you play as well as Elton?

get a normal cheap frame... something like this (obviously you gotta choose!)

          http://www.beauty-advices.com/wp-con...es-wearers.jpg

and then for the tinted lens i think almost every glasses shop that has lens should have tinted ones.....you can ask for the ones that have the color that fades a bit so they don t look a sunglasses a lot.....anyway feel free to write me a p.m. so i can give you more details (i'm having problems attaching pictures here )

p.s. i use them almost everytime.....malls, college ecc ......they surely make you feel a bit more confident and hide a bit the redness especially when you know that you have red eyes and you are in places with fluorescent lights that make them more visible.......................what can we do......when i want to explain why i use them i simply say "oh, my eyes are too sensitive to these strong lights" (i think this also helps justify the redness) ..i don't start explaining well i have MGD that causes dry eye , inflammation ecc ecc ........it's hard, frustrating but we gotta live somehow .

          ciao

thanks, I will PM you now. Isn't it funny? I got Lasik because I did not want to wear contacts and glasses anymore. Now, my vision is 20/20, and I am asking to wear glasses again!

An option that may work for you in terms of reducing light and limiting moving air while still looking 'normal' is bolle. A pair like this might be a good pick. They're a little more 'sport' than 'fashion,' but that's true of pretty much any well-fitting sunglass. Almost any sporting good store is going to carry them, although you'll have to dole out extra if you want special features, like sunlight-reactive lenses, or extra-thin lenses.

In general, plain old grey and pink work well in terms of transmitting colour. Plum, grey/green, and brown may also work, depending on how dark or light the tint is.

Also try places like Macy's, Sunglasses Hut, and even some high end boutiques have fashion glasses. This is usually something you find when you're not looking for it and don't need it.

Tell your friends to keep an eye out for you when they're shopping too. I've seen some fashion glasses at Walmart. They were nice looking, too.

do any of you all wear glasses like these indoors, when in fluorescent light? Do you think this will help at all?

                    I do,

I wear tinted glasses everywhere. Today was a cloudy day and I had to drive my husband to an appt. He just had eye surgery (No! not lasik) Had to have an eye lift because it was affecting his visual field. Tough surgery and tremendously detailed aftercare.

Anyway..I had to put sunglasses on over my glasses. I'm going back and ask for a tint (lavender or gray) to be put in my glasses. It's been a wet Spring and I'm wearing regular glasses. When the ceiling fans and airconditioner season hits I'll be wearing something wrapped around and maybe goggly. (Is that a word??!!) I never think twice about it any more. It's a necessity.

You can order regular glasses online at say eyeglasses.com - specify a tint or transisient tint lens - no prescription - so no one knows there are not real but you and its not like your wearing sunglasses

I would think ordering sunglasses on line would be tough. Can't try them on, what if you get them and they don't look good on you? Stuck with them, right?

                            Cheap Eyeglasses

I have not tried this company, myself. However, I commented on the cool frames one of my students wore, and she recommended the following site:

                            http://zennioptical.com/cart/home.php

They have lots of choices, astoundingly cheap prices, and they make goggles! I'm going to try them the next time I need a new pair of glasses.

                              Nice find Liz!

I wonder... with some of those goggle styles they have, whether it might be practical to press on a set of Tranquileyes foam without it being very obvious behind the wind shield. Just for kicks I picked one and priced it up with a high myopic prescription with astigmatism, and a progressive lens. It came out a little over $90. Add $7 for a pair of Tranquileyes foam and that's about $100 for a high script progressive moisture chamber.
