  • goggles arent even an option for me!

    Im so hacked off!

I ordered solano patonpx from the dry eye zone, after several attempts to order wileys here but they were out of stock from a store in the UK. I know they can take up to -4 ( well wiley manufacture said wiley INk can).

Been to all the optitions today and they cant do it! they cant put my prescription in which is about -4.50, and wouldn't go down to -4 because its not my actual prescription. Im angry! i was told by wiley manufacture that they could take my rx. I was sent wiley from GBsail store anyway, so now i have two sets of goggles that i cant use properly!

Send them back of course, but i still need one pair for the plane.

What prescription has people managed to get in these things? and where did they get it done?

Im in the states for a few weeks in june- is there anywhere in the states that will put a RX in them for -4.50?

I can get the ones off ebay in my RX but they are too big nb prob wouldnt wear them out the house much. I only really like wiley INk and patonpx salano as they are smaller for women

    Sorry for the rant.

I thought if all esle fails (i.e the ipl), theres always this to fail back on, but it looks like i dont even have this either!

I would be hacked off too!

It's a long shot but have you approached any lens laboratories direct?

    http://www.lentoid.com/

For over thirty years we, at Lentoid Limited, have supplied lenses to the optical and scientific industries . Today our major specialism is in the supply of lenses for high prescriptions which are not widely available elsewhere .

In this highly specialised field we have established an enviable reputation for producing the finest quality lenses and this reputation is further enhanced by the exceptional quick turnaround of five working days that we achieve on most prescriptions. This speed of service is particularly significant in the treatment of very young children where the youngest recipients of our spectacles may be as little as six weeks old. The growing number of major childrens eye hospitals who use our services is further testament to the quality of our lenses and to the skill of our highly trained workforce

Thanks irish eyes i will have a look.

But tbh i dont think they will coz ive found out from patonpx manufacturer that salono frame only go up to -3. And i doubt they will put a -3 in if my rx is -4.5.

So fair enough i can see why they were so direct about that rx not working. Wiley manufacturer told me INk would but i dont think she was right, donno as the curve is similar.

Also these patonptx have a slight gap, face isnt wide enough- so not sure how well they will retain moisture anyway.

Youd think they would have better technology as there is a market out there for dry eye. All the women frames seem to be discontinued now also, with some still knocking about, rebecca has some.

You have to get adapters for higher Rxs, i can get these with adapter- but they look like ski goggles on:

        Hi Sazy,
I'm sorry I cannot help you, as I am in the same situation, with a prescription more than double yours. I'm surprised they won't make it in a -4. Can you get your optician to write a -4 prescription for you just so you can get panoptx and wileys?

As for getting it in the states,I've only heard of a couple places on the east coast, none on the west coast.

Have you looked in MEGs? I am in the process of waiting for a MEGs optician to tell me whether or not I can get MEGs in my prescription. I just emailed the company my eyeglass prescription.

        Good luck!

HI odydnas, have you got the word from MEG optician yet? I am very curious about the MEGs. What is your prescription? My prescription is -9.50 and -9.00. I want to get MEGs just for computer use. In that case, a less powerful description (-8.5, -8.00) should work for me when working on computer.

Did you try any other Wiley frames on? I was just talking with my rep yesterday and she said that the AirRage takes up to a -6. One other does as well - can't remember which, Blink if I remember right. Could you just get Wiley themselves to do the Rx? Also, another place I think several people here have had good experiences with is heavyglare.com.

I have the Sirocco made into RX and mine is about -4 or -4.5. I think they may have discontinued making this model. Rebecca, do you know?

One other thing, the Sirocco is big on me, but since it would take my RX I chanced it and it has worked out wonderfully for me. I hate that it's rather a loose fit, but I can do so many things i'd not be able to do without goggles.
