  • Tranquileyes - hydrating foam pads.

Does anybody have any suggestions for what they use to hydrate the foam pads? I have been using tap water (which I suspect is a big no, no).

I have conjunctival papillae and problems with itching, especially at night with tranquileyes, so I am wondering about using tap water. It is probably just spring allergies as my eyes have been very inflammed lately.

The nights have been long and hard of late and I have stopped using tranquileyes and have resorted to a damp wash cloth that I have to rewett every few hours. I am using tap water for this as well.

Should I just get a bottle of distilled water?

    Suggestions would be great. Thanks

That's what the manufacturer recommends and it should be the safest route. I think some people use Unisol. Cleaning and drying the pads thoroughly after every use is also key.

      New Tranquileyes kit questions

I just got my Tranquileyes kit today.
So, what do I do, just remove the two inserts and
      soak them in distilled water?
I will use them for sleeping.
Can you give them a quick microwave to heat the wet pads?
Better warm for dry eye or cold?
      Thanks for the help!

Yup. Don't microwave the pads themselves - heat up a cup of the water if you want them hot when you put them in. In the goggle warm and cold are both good - on inflamed or allergy eyes soaking the pads in chilled water can be nice too.

I want to remind people that they *can* use the pads dry also. I used mine wet once or twice and decided I liked the dry better. Rather than try to tell someone how they will do, I'd say to try them both ways for a few days. Using the pads dry, you don't have as much worry about germs, fungus etc.

Also warm or cold depends on how you like it. Lucy
