  • Anyone tried taping shut their eyes

So I have one eye Lasiked 8 weeks ago....I have the usual dry eye feelings....am using drops from this site as well as night time googles and an eye patch during the day, and top an bottom tear ducts blocked, the top just two days ago.

So I'm wondering about taping my eye shut over the weekend when i don't need to drive. My surgeon says it sounds a little extreme for someone with two plugs, but bar chopping off a limb and one or two other things I am willing to fairly much try anything.

Has anyone taped their eye shut., I know Dr. L. in his book recommends a good night sleep to allow the tear film to spread properly but is taping the eye shut a good or bad thing to do...I see tape for sale in the dry eye shop and it is calling to me.

I hate having to ask this question in cyber space but I get so much help from this site,

    thanks,

    B

Lots of people tape their eyes shut at night. On rare occasions I tape my right eye at night. Just kind of a security blanket thing on a bad day when I haven't been taking care of myself.

As regards taping during the day... I don't see how any harm could come of it... assuming that when they're taped you're not doing anything you might need your eyes for. Kind of an interesting idea in fact, if you're able to 'shut down' from other activities long enough.

Be careful though. You don't want a concussion or bruises from bumping into things.

I have never taped my eye shut, but I try to close my eyes for rest as much as possible. I do this while watching TV or on the computer or just when I'm not doing anything. It really gives the eyes a break and rejuvenates it. I've convinced myself it's good for long term eye health too.

I guess taping the eye shut during the day would be an extreme measure, but it might help.

Thanks for that....I'm of to get some tape!!

My weekends are spent in with my new best friend, my humidifier, so why not add one more to the party...some sticky tape!

I'll let you know how I get on.

so my eye is taped up..but it is not fully closed...I can see little light peeking through...is that ok.

Bar using glue I'm not sure I can get them any more closed, am I doing this right.

My boyfriend cann't stop laughing, he says everytime he sees me I seem to have some new idea regarding my eye, next up a humidity suit, anyone know of anyone making those?

Isn't oxygen required for healing and to prevent infection?
