  • Finally Some Relief for Blepharitis

After 16 years of Hellish pain with my Seb / Staph Blepharitis
my Sister found another Palliative treatment.

Funny after all my researching all these years I have never read about it.

But it is rather concentrated warm salt water (Not Saline Solution)
in the eyes well really over the eyelids.

Of course some of the infection always spills over onto the sclera and such
so I put a salt water in my eyes as well.

The Salt helps to kill the bacteria and also helps to cut the oil to an extent.

My eyes haven't been this white since 1990.

hiya i have mild blepheritis, would salt water compromise the tear film?

Salt water can increase the osmalrity of the tear film. The increased osmalarity can then further dry the cornea. Your natural tear film has a certain amout of potassium or salt in it, think of a cup of sea water. The less water to dilute the solution the higher the osmalarity. So less water equals increased osmalarity, more salt equals increased osmalarity; increased osmalarity equals dried out corneas and inflammation. Dry cornea and inflammation equals painful, red eyes.

Yeah I already have the red painful eyes from the Blepharitis.

The salt water actually gives me some relief so I am not
        near a sink all day.

The salt water hasn't been drying out my sclera but the infected oil
and / or CibaVision soap pads DO so I will continue with the warm salt water.

          More Specific

          Hi -

Could you be more specific about how you use this solution (amounts, etc?) I would be willing to give it a try - especially if it clears about redness - but am a bit hesitant to put salt water in my eyes.

          Thanks.

I usually fill up the bottom up a mug and let the hot water dissolve
as much as possible say a couple tablespoons.

Water can only dissolve so much salt.

It might burn a bit at most but you go and rinse it out.

It really seems to help and I have been tortured
            by Blepharitis for 16 years.

I cannot even live at the University because of it (no soft water)
so I have missed college for the last 3 years.
