I agree with Rebecca. This product has been in the making for some time now. At the ASCRS meeting back in the Spring they said it was going to market. Still has not been released to the best of my knowledge. Might be an FTC or FDA problem in selling a "lid sterilization" product without jumping through the right hoops.

Ive tried it - stings a little if you get it in your eyes - but then again so did the baby shampoo etc. Only stung for a second or two because I let it get in my eyes but other than that its really easy to use and nice on the skin around your eyes. Should last a while too - good because its a bit pricey.

Any updates - how are you liking it now?
Anybody else out there using Sterilid yet?
I've used mine just twice so far (kept forgetting about it). I like the feel of it - kind of silky feeling that is kind to the lids. If nothing else it's got to be a real improvement on the notorious baby shampoo scrubs. I noticed it contains tea tree oil - isn't that what some doctors are prescribing for blepharitis?Rebecca Petris

I tolerate it differently each time I use it, it seems.
Sometimes when my eyes are very sensitive it stings quite a bit and makes them red for a while - not what you want really. Other days it does a little better.
Ive also been trying 'Supranettes' - if you google it there is a website. These are basically just lid wipes but are infused with witch hazel and calendula which I actually find to be quite soothing and my eyes feel really clean afterwards. I dont know how long I will continue using them though as they are a little pricey.
They say to use one wipe per eye/twice a day but I dont think you need to use a seprate wipe per eye - the cloths are quite big so I just use one end for one eye and the other end for the other eye. I refuse to waste any more, have enough of that with the drops.
Im not sure if any of these things are better than plain old saline for cleaning lids but as you say they are better than the shampoo. Just down to personal preference I guess.

sterilid so far
Well, I stopped using Sterilid after about 10 days of 1ce daily use. I was having problems with my upper left lid almost every evening - it would get raw and sore. Finally clicked with me that it started not long after I started using Sterilid, so I stopped and the problem seems to have gone away. Not ruling out coincidence, so I may try it again in a few weeks, but I think I might have a sensitivity to something in it.
Anybody else tried this yet? I'm not trying to push it, I'm just interested in seeing baby shampoo alternatives on the market.Rebecca Petris

When you actually look at the ingredients in the Sterilid - there are a couple that I think could irritate. Theres quite a lot in it too - I generally seem to fare better with products that have the least amount of ingredients in them.
The simpler the better.
Im no longer using it (have 2/3 bottle left - so another waste) I found that it made my eyelids sore and red at times also. It might suit some people though.
The supranettes lid wipes dont irritate at all, they seem very gentle.

SteriLid
Yes ... I tried this, too, in desperation after having tried many types of eye drops plus saline solution and Restasis, with no relief. Burns pretty badly ... as much as saline solution and eye drops. After visits to 3 opthalmologists, an allergist, a dermatologist (rosacea), and 2 trips to the Emergency Room for continuing pain, I'm at wits' end. Glad to know there's a forum for this sort of thing. Maybe someone will come up with a solution. Only way I can get to sleep now is with Ambien CR.

Just curious... with the rosacea... setting aside the drops & solutions for a moment, are you under treatment for MGD? experienced any benefit from heat, doxycycline, etc? Or have you tried any protective eyewear to relieve the symptoms?Rebecca Petris
