  • i-Lid Cleanser. Newly approved eyelid treatment.

I have a regular scheduled appointment with my eye dr this week, she is always on the lookout for new approaches to dealing with my MGD.

She let me know about i-Lid Cleanser.

"The key innovation behind the i-Lid Cleanser is the stabilized form of pure hypochlorous acid solution (with no bleach impurities, which are often present in Dakin and Dakin-like solutions). In in vitro laboratory studies, hypochlorous acid has shown to be fast-acting against bacteria, biofilm and toxins. Hypochlorous acid made by the body’s white blood cells breaks down quickly, but NovaBay was able to create a proprietary formulation in which hypochlorous acid is both stable and free from impurities."

It's so new that none of the pharmacies around here (or even her own hospital formulary) carry it currently. She did say that a couple of patients tried a sample and reported promising results.

Heehee. I decide to search amazon.com for "hypochlorous acid" and found this: http://www.amazon.com/Horseware-Hypo...ochlorous+acid

It says it can be used on any mammal.

This stuff from amazon is available from a company in the UK and without an Rx. The info there makes hypochlorous acid sound amazing... E.g. http://www.equinaide.com/equine-heal...eware/hypocare.

Supposedly there is no harm if it's ingested and it does not sting or harm healthy skin. It also supposedly does not lead to resistance like antibiotics can. I'm going to get some for my dog who has allergies and I'll try it myself.

The only thing I don't like about what I've read (or have *not* read) is what are the other ingredients? All I've found is that the "active ingredient is hypochlorous acid". What else is there? If anyone finds the info, please post.
