Hi... Yeah I agree this would be helpful... wish it were as simple as it sounds... have tried this in the past unsuccessfully.

Does anyone else out there know of any online sketches or pictures of lid therapy, lid scrubs, lid massage etc?

I remember seeing a video on this very topic on an NHS website some time ago.

Trying to find it again will be like looking for a needle in the haystack.

I will have a hunt around when I come back from London tonight.

        Lid Massage Question

Hi Rebecca, Grant, Ian, Mikastef or other helpful member/dryeyesufferer,

I don't get a part of the description for lid therapy in example #1 (see below). Pressure must be kept in against the eyeball to keep the gland blocked as your finger rolls up the lid and the fluid inside is pushed out. So do you just take one hand and apply pressure against your closed eye while the other hand/finger rolls up the the lower eyelid to open the gland? Sorry this is a confusing question, but I'd really like to try this out! Thanks for any helpful input!!

Example #1 (thanks, Grant!): The index finger is rolled up the lower lid to the lid margin. Pressure is applied inwards as the finger is rolled up to express the secretion from the gland. Lid massage should be done 20 to 30 times on each eye. There are 23 glands in each eye, running upwards to the lid margin, behind the eyelashes. Ensure that you do 3 rolls to cover the entire lower lid and all of the glands. Research has shown that as few as 2 glands blocked can have a detrimental effect on tear film performance. Think of your finger being like a steam roller. Pressure must be kept in against the eyeball to keep the gland blocked as your finger rolls up the lid and the fluid inside is pushed out.
