  • Today's Tip: Lid scrubs

To improve eyelid hygiene, discourage blepharitis, and help stimulate meibomian gland secretions for a better tear film, consider making lid scrubs part of your daily routine.

What does "lid scrub" mean? Basically, wetting a cotton bud (Q-tip) and gently wiping/rubbing the margins of the eyelids (tissue between the eyelashes and the eye surface). There are many variations. Some people use diluted baby shampoo (at least 7 parts water to 1 part baby shampoo). Some use saline. Some use a solution of bicarbonate of soda. Speak with your eye doctor about the method s/he recommends.
