  • Sterilid is a GREAT product.

Per a forum member's suggestion, I bought Sterilid and have been using it for two months now. I have to say that it has done a phenomenal job at tackling the symptoms of MGD. My eyes are rarely irritated anymore and I don't wake up with discharge or yellow crust around my eyelid margin either.

If you have MGD or blepharitis, please try this product. The only thing that I would recommend is to avoid washing the entire eye with the product as I found it irritating. Instead, take a cotton pad and cleanse the entire outer region of the upper and lower eyelid area both in at night before you go to bed, and in the morning as soon as you wake up.

I know you'll be happy you tried it. A million thanks to the forum member who recommended this product!

Can you explain a little more how you use it with a cotton bud? As I understand it, its "foamy".

I got my blepharitis under control not long after I began using sterilid.(After over a year of struggles)
I was never sure if it was the sterilid, or the other treatments I had been trying. But I continued with the sterilid,... just in case...
I think it must have been the sterilid after reading this post.

          NP1981,
Yes, control is probably all I will ever have. I have made the mistake in the past of dropping my guard when I noticed improvement, only to regress as soon as I did. I will have to be diligent the rest of my life I suppose.

            My 2 cents....

I switched to Sterilid about 2-3 weeks ago and have noticed much improvement with my eyes too. It can be irritating at first if you use too much. I just put a little of the foam on my finger tip and gently massage the lash lines on the closed eyelid and then let it stay there for about a minute which the directions recommend. I do this everyday in the shower. I posted elsewhere on this forum that I put a drop of Nutratear in each eye right after the lid scrubs....really makes my eyes feel good.

Right now I am at control/maintenance stage too.

            A good product worth trying...

Where do you buy Sterilid? I can't seem to find in stores. Do you have to order it through the website?

              Thanks,

I bought it at CVS Drugs. Are there any in NM? Here in PA it seems like every town has one.

It is made by TheraTears. Google "sterilid" for souces if you don't have a CVS near you. It is pricey, but for me it was worth it.

Let me know how you make out.

No CVS drugstores here. Walgreen's are everywhere, but no Sterilid.

After reading your reviews, I immediately bought Sterilid tonight from Walgrens. I've just applied it and it had a kind of burning sensation but I am hopeful that this will help the blepharitis clear up because the antibiotic gel that the doc gave me sure doesn't seem to be working too well. It was expensive though at $21 + tax a bottle but if it works, it's worth it.

Wow, $21 is a lot. I special-ordered some at the local Walgreen's and it was $17.50 and I thought that was outrageous. I like the product, but I just can't believe it's so special that I would pay so much for it.

I sometimes get a coupon from my Dr. for $1 off , every little bit helps I guess. Sams pharamacy will order it for $16 , I think. Eckerds had it at $18
I noticed on the burning is sometimes worse than others. When my eyes are good, it barely tingles. It states, try to leave it on 1 minute, so I guess they know it stings. I try to imagine it killing something.
I still swear by it ,and I go through a ton off the stuff.
I will warn you if you are not careful ,
sometimes the pump stays in the down position, and all the liquid will leak out, h noooooooo!

                            anyone get burning?

I use Sterilid every nighth in the shower, mainly just to get the goop out of my lashes from ointments, drops etc. I massage my closed eyes and lashes, wait about 10-15 seconds then rinse off. I've noticed in the past week or so that my lids, especially near my lashes, feel a mild burning sensation. Could this be the Sterilid? I can stop using it, but what else will take care of cleaning up the goop after a day of drops?

Yes, this is relatively common with Sterilid and happens to me too esp. if I use it several days in a row (I don't anymore).

Ocusoft have a new foaming cleanser they say works better. I'm waiting on a sample to try. Normally I just use Unisol for lid hygiene.
