Is this right at your lid margin? I get lumps in my left lid like that sometimes. I use a cotton bud (ideally after doing a warm compress) or my fingertips to gently push or squeeze them. - Do you have The Dry Eye Remedy book - it has some diagrams showing this. If that sort of thing is not working can you get to a doctor to manually express the glands? Also maybe post in the Dr. forum here.

Your thread keeps reminding me of the chalazion I once had. It hurt as well...and it wasn't a dry eye type of pain. I had a giant lump on my lid that needed to be surgically removed. I think chalazion is probably a type of mgd, but it's more dramatic than just the small papules you'd normally see from that.

Sorry, I've been watching your thread and that's what keeps coming to mind.

          Rebecca,
I too have these tiny lumps of something that are on the very top of my bottom lids. It almost looks like it could be oil build up or something. I have no idea. They come and go though all the time. Is this what you are talking about?

This is along the lines of what I am talking about on my lids, but not so pronounced.

Hmmm...I don't know. Mine was really just one big lump on my lower lid. It was sort of almond shape and probably a quarter of the size of an almond. Significant in size...more so than just the "beading" you'd see from MGD. Anyway, the lump rubbed on my eye and made me crazy...really crazy. I was just a kids so I ignored it for a long time until my mother took a look and freaked.

Your post and description alarms me because you seem to be experiencing pain from the bumps. This seems unusual to me. My aunt had a chalazion recently and they treated it with compresses and possibly doxy. They opted not to remove it. It took a long, long time to go away.

Forgive me if I'm incorrect here or if I'm making you nervous. I could be way off. But, if you are extremely uncomfortable, you might move your appt. closer. July is a way off.

I don't want to scare you and you probably have nothing to worry about but just for peace of mind, if I were you, I'd ask the doctor about a scan for an orbital tumor. Hope everything turns out ok for you and it probably isn't that but I would rule it out anyway.
