  • Doctor's advice for blocked meibomiam glands

    Hi,
I have just seen a doctor who found that half on my MG's in lower eyelid were clogged. He showed me how to express them with my finger wrapped in a wet cotton. This is more pronounced than that Dr. Latkany's book with a q-tip. He asked me to me a little more aggressive in expression.

I think that I need to do this more than 2 times/day...
Does anyone need to express MG's more than twice daily?
I feel that I need to do it 4 times/day:
    - 7:00am
    - 1:00pm
    - 8:00pm
    - 2:00am

    Thanks,

    George

I think i must do it all the time for i seem to feel the need to constantly squeeze (sideways) and press up or down on my lids - It relieves the itch and seems to express some thick oil at times
I constantly wash my hands as i am concious that i could introduce infection - and i am not that gentle either
You do what you have to to get ease
Also "screwing up" ones eyes tightly shut can help
Reading this - I sound very eccentric
I am /or used to be (before this wretched condition ) quite normal- I think
    Stella
PS I do lid hygiene formally night and morning Dr Latkany style religiously as well

I think the "blocked" glands thing can confuse some people. Are they really blocked? I think the only proof is the "toothpaste" quality oils which I don't get. I try the warm compresses and all but still end up doing the same as Stella when the problem gets worst.

        Hi brd88,

You are right: the MG's were capped.
        All best !
