  • Baking soda - lid hygiene

I see some recommendations to use a baking soda solution to help keep the eyelids clean. However, surely putting an alkali solution near your eye is potentially harmful? Anyone tried this?

Where did you see this? Who wrote about it? I've never heard of it in 8 years on dry eye/lasik boards. Not for me. I know you can use baking soda to brush your teeth, to use as a cleaning product for counters etc when mixed with water. Not on my eyes for sure, I have enough problems.

If this has some merit, maybe you can post a link? Thanks.

Rebecca, thanks for bringing this link forward. It tells about baking soda compresses, vinegar compresses and interesting other things. Good reading and when I have a few minutes, I'll try each of the above compresses!

Wouldn't it be something if baking soda compresses fixed our eyes? Or-vinegar?
