  • Lower lid folding into eye during massage/lid scrub

I have noticed that when I do my tea tree shampoo lid cleanings twice a day (for demodex), that my right lower lid tends to be "weaker" than my left lower lid. What I mean by this is that when I run my fingers across both lower lids with the shampoo, the right one tends to fold into my eye. This never happens to my left lower lid and I use the same pressure. Also, as an fyi, my right eye is typically worse than my left eye in terms of general dry eye issues.

Of course, this "fold in" issue is not good since my lid happens to have tea tree shampoo on it at the time. Maybe it's my eyelids way of trying to really get those demodex good since they live deep in the eyelashes. However, that is likely wishful thinking. A more plausible explanation is that my right lower eyelid is not expressing as much oil as the left lower eyelid and therefore, is more flexible/pliable. I know that when I went to see Dr. Tseng, he said to his fellow (while I was of course listening) that my right lower lid was only expressing about 10% of the oil needed .

My question is ... do other people have a problem with their "weaker" lid folding into their eye when they do lid scrubs or massage? If so, any suggestions on improving the oil flow or whatever else is needed in the weaker lower lid?

I know that I should massage the right lower lid a little lighter. Again, I'll see Dr. Tseng next week and the right lower lid is one of my top questions, but I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts based on your experiences. Dr. Tseng did mention that he would look to express the lower right glands if they had not improved. I think they have improved, but I am also sure that more improvement is needed.

Like all other things, it seems like expressing glands is not a "magic" answer. However, maybe it will be one small step for my dry eye and one giant step for me/YGB. In the world of dry eye, every little bit helps. Now where's that glass of water ...
