I have had probing done 3 x-usually i have relief for about a month or so and i get clogged up again. How about IPL? Has anyone experienced greater relief than a month with repeated treatments??

You probably remember my story. I put my husband's ear drop in my eye in a rush to get the children to school. I had my eye flushed, but it caused cysts on my conjunctiva and the ensuing dry eye. The doctor said I had preexisting dry eye (for which I put the visine in - hence the mistake). However, I never had many symptoms.
My dry eye was almost unbearable for a time after the surgery. I was on restasis and lacriserts. The burning was unbearable for a time.
I started IPL for my rosacea. I am sure I have and did have occular rosacea before the "accident." I have had 4 treatments. Even though it is not on the eye area specifically. I do believe it has helped. I am not doing a single thing for my eyes - no drops, no restasis, no compresses... NADA!!!
Things are not perfect. I have a small scar in my right eye from the surgery, and it bothers me from time to time, and it is a constant reminder every morning.
I do believe the IPL was a lifesaver for me. I am so thankful to God to be where I am now. I pray I can remain at this level of comfort. It is very tolerable but not perfect.

Jenny, what is the reason for your dry eye?
I've been searching here in the forum, and I think that people who end their IPL treatment does not return to post. I do not know if this is good or bad ...
I'll make an IPL treatment here in my country and am trying to gather data.
Most stories about people who did IPL, arrived just when the third or fourth treatment. We could not ascertain whether it is working in the medium or long term.
Do not know if it's a good idea, but we could combine the stories into a single topic. Putting specifications such as: What is the cause of dry eye. How long have. How many times did the treatment.
It will become easier for us to consult. Especially for new members who did not follow the stories.
I've seen people saying they pulled the plugs and left happy. I've seen people saying it did not work very well for them.
What do you think? Or not a good idea?Comment

Or maybe even a section to be able to discuss treatment. I see that many people are in doubt (including me). And from what I read too many people doing the treatment. I think that gather information in one place will be very helpful.Comment

that sounds like an excellent idea to me. I have sjogrens and MGD-double whammy.. I have had probing done 3 x.. like i said it seems to help for about 4 weeks or so ( along with warm compresses daily) and then the glands seem to close on me. I know my eye specialist isn't too happy with my response to it--he was hoping it would help a lot more than it has ... that is why i don't think IPL is some magical cure either.. but again i have severe MGD with Sjogrens.. so I really need help. ha ha..
yeah if we could start a thread where people listed their conditions and how often they had IPL and/or Probing.. whether it helped and if so for how long until the next treatment, etc... It was my understanding with IPL they really cannot get to the upper eyelids... If that is the case I am totally not interested as it is my upper lids that get chronically clogged. Usually only one or two glands on my lower lids needs to be expressed by my doctor..JennyComment
