  • IPL treatment for MGD question.

I've been today to my opthomologist and asked him if IPL treatments can improve my MGD and he say it didn't. I tried many different things, from artificial tears, restasis, compresses,Lipiflow and I really feel no difference.
I'm a little confused because I'd read in here lots of stories where it helped people with MGD a lot so, would it help me if I were to try it?

Also about how much does this kind of treatment costs and is it safe?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Daniel,
I had IPL, and it helped a little. I have dry eye, ocular rosacea and MGD. The eye doctor who did the IPL said he had good luck helping people who only had MGD, but he wasn't sure with the added dry eye and rosacea how well IPL would work for me. He was right. Still, I had a TBUT of 3 when I went to the doctor and it was 8 when he was done. Not great, but better. I can't remember how much it cost. It wasn't cheap, but not something limited to millionaires either. As to safety, I'd find a doctor well trained in delivering IPL. Best wishes to you.
