  • So, I just had BlephEx...

So I just had BlephEx done an hour ago. Don’t feel super different. (Id imagine in my case specifically Lipiflow will treat the bigger source of the problem, shortening of the glands)

Ah well, cost an extra 200 bucks or so for the BlephEx, but can’t regret. And maybe the BlephEx will show more effect in time.

$200 is kinda steep for BlephEx , my dr does it for me for free.

You should try to do IPL as well, I think IPL > LipiFlow. Also get on Xiidra and topical Azithoymicin if you have access to that.

By the way, the BlephEx felt uncomfortable during the procedure. Would Lipiflow feel more or less so?

I did lipiflow friday and my bad eye is still inflamed and painful. I avtually want to remove that eye and focus on just my good eye that has a TBUT of 5-6 seconds and some glands working.

What are your tear break up times for each eye?

I find TBUT to be a not a very good evaluation metric, as the variance is very high. Another evaluation metric is MGYLS, where your doctor measures the # of secreting MGs.

Yes that is also great. I agree. I applaud your knowledge of this. You know way more than the three different local Ophthalmologists in my little city.

strange thing for me is my left eye and right both only have a few glands with flowing oil. But the right eye has an osmolarity of 295 and feels ok. The left eye has an osmolarity of 315. Lots of inflammation. And much harder, thicker oil inside.

Recently ive been thinking i should have that eye removed and just focus on my good eye. Bo more basketball but i think more hope fir less pain. Also cheaper for scleral lenses hshaha

I think you should try and be more positive. You still have a lot of treatment options, and the fact that you have no staining is a very good sign.

You should definitely give IPL a try, do 6 sessions minimum. Sclerals are definitely an option, however I would try AMT and autologous before that. AMT can do wonders for you -- I'm around 2 months post-op for my AMT prokera, and I think I've improved quite a bit.

Agree. Need to be more positive. A lot of treatments also take a while to feel the difference.
