  • How to find a great acupuncturist

I have had quite a few e-mails as to how to find a good acupuncturist.

1 - Make sure they meed the licensing/registration requirements in your state and city.

2 - Doctors and Chiropractors generally only need 100 hrs of training. Acupuncturists have 4-6 years of training and are trained in all concepts of Chinese Medicine, not just some point combinations that work.

3 - www.acufinder.com is a good website to look for acupuncturist in your area

4 - www.nccaom.org is the website for the national certification commission for acupuncture and oriental medicine. The site has the laws in each state and the regulating govermental bodies that oversee licensing. They also have a listing of practitioners that have passed the national exams.

5 - Be an informed consumer - Ask questions - Has the acupuncturist treated dry eye, What is their success. Are they trained in herbs etc.

6 - Make sure they use disposabe needles and follow clean needle technique

Any other questions - just let me know
