Broken blood vessels

I seem to be getting broken blood vessels in my eye way too frequently, like 3-4 times a year. It's the deal where there is a huge red spot in the white of my eye and I look like the devil for a few weeks. Have others here found that this comes with dry eye? My eye doc threw that out as a possible explanation. He didn't seem very concerned, but I don't see many other people walking around with blood red eyes like this. Thanks.

A relative of mine had this problem and his doctor had him take Vitamin C with Bioflavinoids to strengthen capillary walls. It worked for him.
