anyone take alpha lipoic acid?

my opthamologist was leary of me taking this but my natural path doc wants me to..not sure why .. but i was curious if anybody with eye issues took it and if it helped/hurted the dryness/glands? etc..? thanks!

I've heard of it being used for Diabetics, and wasn't sure so I did a google search, and found that it does mention uses (tho not conclusive) for eye issues, but what was mentioned was damage to the retina, glaucoma, cataracts, and Wilson's disease. That was all I found, but there may be more to it that you Natural path knows, maybe ask for clarification from them on it, and when you do let us know too, I'm very interested in doing things the most natural way first when I can. no i havent taken it yet.. i just wondered how it would affect MGD.. i cannot find a lot of info on it either.thanks for looking.
