  • Flax seed oil worked wonder

I have been wearing Acuvue2 soft contact lenses (been a soft contact lense wearer for over 20 years). Then three months ago I started getting dry eyes, which was so painful and I thought I had an eye infection. Went to see my eye doc and he diagnosed me with "Dry eyes" and told me to use "Artificial Tears" with my contact lenses or get "lasik"..... I used the "Artifical Tears" with my contact lenses but my eyes were stinging so much and I had wear my thick & heavy glasses. Went on the web search and found that some suggestions on suppliments. Now, after one month, my eyes can tolerate contact lenses for many hours and I feel much better, but got quite spotty on my upper lips, chin & cheeks. Multi vitamin, Evening primrose oil 500mg, flax seed oil 1000mg, Bilberry pills 1000mg.

      big acne like spots

I am don't usually gets spots, but since taking the flaxseed oil for one week (dry eyes feels 70% better), these big acne like spots appeared on my upper lip, chin, cheeks. They are big and sore with white pus inside. Don't know if these are caused by the flaxseed oil...

I'm happy for you that the oils work. If you should ever have to permanently get out of contacts due to dry eye, do NOT get LASIK. You'll likely end up uncomfortably dry.

hi i have tried flaxseed oil in capsule form, taking 6 in all per day, for 2months, but with no satisfactory result. I have heard that fish oil is much better nutrition than flaxseed as the EPA it contains work (theorically) wonder!! As for flaxseed, I have heard that we must take a lot of them (liquid or capsule) just to get the equivalent of 2teaspoon of cod liver oil....
I would like to know if some people have heard about what I have just written, in othe research

This is true. Flax seed oil contains the ALA form of Omega-3 which your body has to convert into DHA and EPA. Some people are better converters than others. (I have read that women of child-bearing age convert the best). To avoid this issue most people prefer Fish oil that already contains high amounts of DHA + EPA to ensure they are getting enough. My eye Dr. is a corneal specialist and recommends people with dry eye use both flax and fish oil supplements. He suggests consuming 500-2000 mg per day of EPA+DHA combined.
