  • omega-3 and flaxseed

I've been using omega-3 for about a month with really no difference. For those that have used omega-3 and flaxseed, has one been better for you over the other?

Could you clarify which products you're wanting to compare... Flaxseed is a source of Omega 3 EFAs.

Hmm, didn't know they were the same. I heard from someone that was taking omega-3 like me, then tried flaxseed and noticed a big improvement. I thought they were two different things.

There are a lot of products with Omega 3s in them, and to further confuse things a lot of products with Omega 3 in the name. But flaxseed oil is the classic way to get omega 3 through supplementation and a lot of dry eye specialists really push that. I use liquid flaxseed oil myself.

          Thanks Rebecca,

I will try the flaxseed pills and see how that goes or use both unless that is not advised.

Not sure if you can answer this, but I tend to see mucous like stuff on my eye lashes or they look sticky, does this mean whatever I'm doing is not working?

Hi I have the same thing some mornings. My MD says that sometimes it is just build up of debris/oils but it can also be an infection. I have come to know the difference over time.

When I have an infection my eyes tend to have pain and are more sticky and possibly stuck together after sleeping. If it is just debris/oils then my eyes lids don't stick together and the build up seems thicker.

This is my personal experience so it may be different for you.

It does not mean that your treatment is completely useless.
