Flexeril

I have recently been prescribed 10mg of Flexeril (muscle relaxant) for TMJ pain. Has anyone taken this? I am concerned it will dry my eyes out or make me sleep so soundly that I will not wake up to put drops in my eye durning the night.

I have taken it in the past and yes, it did dry my eyes. It also made me sleep VERY soundly. What about trying half a tablet to start and see how that goes.

Have you tried a bite plane - when I was having tmj problems my dentist made me one that really helped.

Thanks Magoo! That's what I was afraid of...

I have not tried a bite plane but am wearing a night guard. I am hoping it will go away on it's own if I make a point to keep my jaw relaxed

I have battled TMJ for years. Took Flexeril off and on. It did not make my DES worse. It did make me sleep well. I took it 10 hours before wake up time to make sure I was not too groggy in the morning. I suggest seeing a TMJ specialist to get an appropriate splint made. Anything else is just a band aid.
