Doxy - stomach pain

Hi,

I tried doxy for 2 days (100mg the first day, 50 mg the 2nd day) and had planned to continue 50mg a day for a few weeks. However after 36 hours or so my stomach hurt so bad that I didn't dare to continue the treatment. Anyone else experienced the same thing?

It is a known side effect, especially with higher doses. Did you try taking it with food? When I was on it, I took it half way through my meal and never had a problem.

Make sure you take it only if you eat something - after a meal for example

How can you be sure that the stomach pain was due to taking doxycycline?

There are a number of side effects but it can be difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by the medication or by something else.
