  • Castor Oil Eye Drops

Hello Everyone I wanted to let you all know that I am now using Castor Oil Eye drops. I've only used them now for 5 days and they are working WONDERS ON MY EYES!!!!! The burning and dryness are 7 times better now, the mucus strings are hardly there, they are still there but not as bad as before. I still wake up in the morning with severe dryness but it's not as bad as it use to be. I am also taking those vitamin eye caps along with all the other vitamins I take, I started those about the same time I started these new drops. They come in a 2% solution and you keep them in the fridge, you have to have a perscription from your doctor and only a compounding pharmacy can make them, I get mine from Leiters pharmacy in San Jose, California. I am feeling a lot better and I can honestly say that these drops are the first ones in 4 years that I've noticed any change and in 4 years I haven't felt this good in a long time.
I just wanted to let you all know how these are working for me and I am sure it wouldn't hurt all of you with severe dry eye to try these drops, unless some of you have tried them I am not sure but they are working wonders for me and it's only been 5 days, I put them in my eyes 4 times a day. I am also on the Restasis and I am only using that once in the morning and once before bed, I wait 15 minutes and put the Castor Oil Eye drops in afterwards. I will keep you all informed on my progress, if you have any questions just ask and I will answer. Hope you all are doing good. Ciao D

    Hey Delilah!!!!

Wow!! I'm so glad to hear that something seems to be helping you. I really hope it continues. Do you think that maybe it could be the Restasis helping too? Or maybe just a combination of a bunch of things? Anyway, glad to hear you've had some good days!!

      That's a good question, Shells.

While I'm certainly thrilled that you're finding relief ... could it be anything else?? It's pretty important to figure it out so that--if it doesn't last--you can figure out what's changed.

How long have you been using the Restasis?

The test using ophthalmic castor oil to treat non-inflamed obstructive MGD went on for two periods of two weeks [1], so ... though it's certainly possible that it's the castor oil drops working ... it also could be something else.

Did the weather get better in ID recently? If it got warmer, could there just be less heat in the house, the car, and in the buildings, drying out the air less?

I hope it's the drops, and I hope it continues, but ... more importantly ... I hope you can figure out what it was so that you can always stay with it!

Continued good health ... and additional congrats on the no-smoking

      Neil

          Thanks Everyone!!

Well I am pretty sure it's the Castor Oil Eye drops that are helping me because during the 4 years I've had this horrible dry eye and MGD I've went through all the seasons, summer, winter, spring and fall feeling the same as any other day. I know it has to be the drops as I am only one month into the Restasis, this is my second time on Restasis and I am giving it a full year before I give up on it, but I was wondering if I should even use the Restasis if the Castor Oil Eye drops are working so quickly for me and since it takes Restasis so long to work? The reason why I knew the drops were working is because nothing has changed my eyes and since I started using these drops I noticed change, I've also been on tons of vitamins and supplements for so long and haven't really noticed any change in my eyes, then I put these drops in and I notice a huge change. I just hope it keeps working and isn't giving me just a little tease I never knew that Restasis had Castor Oil in it? Delilah

Hi Delilah. I'm glad to hear you are getting some relief. The Restasis web site says that many people do start to notice improvement within one month. When I was on it last time, I noticed my light sensitivity was less about 5 days after starting it. Whether it is the Restasis or the Castor Oil, who cares as long as something is working for you!

Hi these castor oil drops, they are the same as refresh endura arnt they? or do they have a higher concentation of castor oil so are more beneficial than endura??

It is just castor oil - on its own.

The castor oil in refresh endura is probably too small an amount to have the same effect.

Guess what - we could get castor oil drops on prescription in the UK until about 1996 or so , when they discontinued it for some reason, bless em! They can't have been shifting it.

Are these drops called "castor oil drops" or something else. Can you please let us know what the name of them is if you are still around.

                    Thanks,

                    Danny

                      Hi
I`m currently using "castor oil" drops at nights. It also includes cyclosporine (0,1%).

                      It says on the label:

                      Sandimmun inf.kons. 50mg/ml
                      Ricin.ol.virgin.steril

It has to be discarded after a week so it costs a bit...and I dont keep them in the fridge. I wonder what delilah meant saying its 2% solution she`s using?

I dont know if it helps or not but maybe the catch is cyclosporine even though it hasnt helped me before. These oily drops spread all over the place and I cant imagine using it daytime as I dont want my face to shine

Are you still using castor oil drops?

                        Hi,

I was wondering if you were still using these drops? Are they still helping? Could you tell me where you buy them? Are they specifically for ocular use? I use the Refresh Endura and that helps some, but I am curious about plain castor oil.

                        Thanks.
