  • Clintas ultra 3

I have just started to use Clinitas Ultra 3, today.
I thought I would try them as they have been reccommended on several occasions. Did try them a few years ago for a day and gave up as they were not that instantly soothing. Put them in today and it was as I remembered but I really would like to keep on at them and give them a good go. However, what I was wondering was if I could use them with my other drops I am currently using which are the other Clinitas Soothe which are a different drop altogether. I might start off the day with them and use the other Soothe ones in the evening. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? They do have a preservative which I understand is very mild so I am not really that worried about that. Its just that they are quite drying but I thought I would give them say a month, to see if they help with the gritty feeling.
I know it might be best to use only them to actually work out if they are any good but I am not sure I will be able to go the course as they are not that soothing at the mo, but would feel better if I know I can interspace them with my regular drop. Did get a bottle of Systane Ultra last week but gave up on them as they were not feeling to great on my eyes.
    thanks for any help

Systane ultra is garbage, imo. I only bought it because systane restorative formula gave me decent relief. It's the only one that stops the burn. Well, the rstorative formula has mineral oil in it and i guess thats why it helps. The ultra version obviously does not.

Never heard of Clinitas Ultra 3. Must be a UK only thing.

All the other drops evaporate within 15 minutes or so when used late at night, so I find myself applying a lot. So I picked up some tears naturale which comes in single vials and without preservatives. You can recap the things and there is enough for several uses in one vial. It's great for people with evaporate dry eye like me. It's a real challenge for me once the sun goes down.

Good luck with the Clinitas Ultra 3. Let us know how it works out for ya...

      Hi URG my eyes!
Clinitas 3 is the UK version of Freshcote, they are very identical in the composition. I have given up using them on Sunday as they made my eyes drier than ever! i stupidly got so upset with it on Tuesday night that I decided to have another go at the steroid drops I had left over from a couple of months ago, I gave up after two days of that as well! I thought that they seemed really irritated from the clinitas so maybe it might help this time. Well, that was not a good thing to do either, an hour later they went ballistic with severe grittiness and horrible twitching etc. Basically I cannot tolerate that much now and have gone back onto the Soothe sodium hylauronate which although is doing not much for them, doesnt seem to put them into overdrive. I must admit that they were going downhill fast before I started using the Clinitas 3, now they are seriously irritated more than they have ever been and I am wondering how long this is going to take to get on top of!
Live and learn I guess anyway.

Oh ok...I'm going to try freshkote... that's probably the only thing under God's hot sun that I haven't tried. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. Sometimes I'll try something for a week - then I give up on it and wonder if i gave up on it too soon. But the irritation is just too much with some of these products.

Yesterday I got the tranquileyes in the mail. So I applied some systane night-time ointment and used the goggles. And my eyes felt more hydrated than they have since this junk started in the summer. So that was nice. I was not the morning vampire I have been for the past 5 months. i could actually tolerate some light...

Lulu, Just to check, is that FML? How many per day? Expires 28 days after opening, just to make sure. So sorry it's making things worse. I'm still on sourcing autologous serum - Cambridge obviously, but it needs a search to see if there's somewhere nearer for taking blood. A precedent in his clinic would be useful, I wonder where he refers difficult cases, may be Cambridge rather than Moorfields.

            Hi Little Mermaid
The Demexthasone is individual vials and preservative free so I hopefully can see no prob with that, but thanks anyway, they do come in bottles too. Are you looking for serum for your wee one? I will try to persuade mine to give it a go but I know in advance what he is going to say, that unless I look like I am going blind, he will not consider it! He is good in other ways but this does frustrate me. I am a bit stressed with all of this today so am not in the best place, it is so annoying. I have to believe, like all of us that it will get a bit better, I will never be cured, not being negative, just realistic as its never actually gone since it first reared its ugly mug! Just that sometimes its better.
I am gratefull for the continued contact as I know that you clearly understand and take an active role in addressing this, I do normally but have got a bit low lately so need to find some strength and get myself up to dealing with it again.
By the way, it was two drops per day of demexathasone. Again this is something that helps control inflamation, no not me, its just promoted the darn thing, or it could be that clinitas 3? OR there again, it could be my diet, etc etc. I just am in a pickle about the whole thing, although it is too much of a coincidence that I change drops and it gets even worse.
I hope your daughter is okay.
            Regards
            Lulu

Lulu, Hello there. Yes, thanks, we have settled down again after a few weeks struggle. Some others here have reactions to Dexamethosone, try advanced search - is this your best option for steroid? It's infuriating how treatments are one year not available, the next year everywhere, as awareness and expertise improves amongst the ophths. Since your ophth mentioned it first, I do hope he will press ahead with this, or come up with a better plan, because of your difficulty. We have seen many NHS docs and the frustrating part is that what one refuses, another expedites, depending what's the norm/got budget/equipment in that particular specialist centre. I am wondering if you could contact yours for advice when things are bad like this. It's part of his job. I've learned that they expect us to turn up again for adjustment if things are getting worse on the recommended treatment. Or even show up in eye clinic A&E with red eye or pain. I do appreciate how difficult this is.
