What are the impacts of using night-time ointment in the long-term for lagophthalmos condition. Came across following article but do not think this is the final word on this topic:

Gels (like Genteal) are not sufficient for providing adequate overnight protection.
While on ointments, am practicing good lid hygiene in my regimen - warm compress after waking up in the morning followed by eyelid scrub with warm water, baby shampoo & wash cloth. Am wondering whether that is enough to get rid of the ointment from the eye in the morning and prevent the possible long-term side-effects?
Have seen multiple oculoplastics doctor for a relatively more permanent fix for lagophthalmos but they do not have a good solution for my condition either. Hence the choice of using the night-time ointment long-term.
Thanks
