Clarymist spray.

I have just ordered Clarymist spray which was reccomended by my eye
specialist today. Has anyone tried this spray and if so with what reults.
It is sprayed onto your eyelids with your eye closed .
According to the peice I have read on the product the spray 'stabilises the
lipid layer of the tear film and regulates and improves the hydration of the eye surface and the eyelids.'
When I receive the order and have given it a try I'll post my experience
of it's use.

I have been using Clarymist for nearly a week now.

I have not noticed a significant improvement in my tear film, but i have noticed a reduction in my inflammation (particularly my bottom lid margins).

I don't think it is a miracle cure but in my case I think it is helping.

The product is quite expensive in the UK (about£15 + P &P) and I have also noticed that in just 1 week, I have certainly used a fair amount out of the bottle.

The bottle contains 100 sprays, and to use it 3-4 times a day with 1-2 sprays per eye. At this rate, I will be lucky if I get 2 weeks out of it and at the price, it certainly is an expensive option.

Anyway, if it works, I may through yet caution to the wind (or another £20 in the fire - feels the same thing) and use it for awhile.

Does anyone know if this product is available in the U.S.? I've searched on line and it looks like I'd have to order it from the UK.

I don't think so. I suspect that the Ocusoft spray(s) are substantially the same but I have not been able to verify their ingredients.

Rebecca - the 3rd one down, Tears Again Liposomal Lid Spray (~$20) is the same as Clarymist.

I've also been informed that the one futher down, "Qusome Quintess" won't work the same, pretty much by definition. Instead of liposomes from soy, it uses another fat for the liposomal-esque structure, without using phospholipids. As the main effect on dry eye is from the phospholipids being the same as the ones excreted by the meibomian glands, I can't massively understand why they would release this, except for the fact that the use of liposomes in dry eye is patented by the german manufacturers of Tears Again, Optima Pharmazeutische.

Just a heads up in case people thought they were the same thing!

That is a welcomed relief, I am using it about 4 times a day and am concerned at the rate at which the bottle is fast becoming empty.

I guess that if something is good (which this spray appears to be) we have to pay for it, accept it and get on with it.

I think if I get down to 2Xdaily then it will become more economical.

Did we ever get a deal worked out for members of this board? I remember reading about a suggestion somewhere.

I am going to ask my laser DR for another supply tomorrow - I guess I can buy it directly from them to save on the P&P.

Wouldn't you know I'd order the wrong one. But to let you know, the customer representative was very nice about changing the order to the one Ian recommended. Sure hope it works for me. My eyelids have been so sore lately. The air is drying out badly. We've had a dry year here. Be sure to get your humidifiers out if you live in dry air.

I have just in the last week turned the radiators on - yuk yuk yuk. I guess the choice was to freeze to death with comfortable eyes or be warm with dry horrible eyes (seems a bit of a compromise really).

I find the clarymist is nice of a night. It seems to help soothe my eyes a little (in my case anyway). I hope you find that it does something for you.

As I have said countless times, I don't think it is a miracle cure but it just may be the product that helps, in my case, I tried just about everything else available and it really was about the last out there (all that talk about mechanical and physiological ??????? in another post put me off).

Good luck with it, I will let you know what i think in another week or two.

Ian, I just checked your profile as you mentioned laser surgery - post LASIK has seen some very postive results, so please keep me informed. Regarding delivery, distribution is increasing rapidly, so it will be easier to buy from a shop soon. It will be in Tescos almost as we speak

Thanks Tony for your response to my other post. It says tears lipospme spray is for mild to moderate cases and tony you said it is the same as clarymist right? because i consider my eyes severly dry. I wonder whihc is the better value? The calrymist is 10ml $12.95 =$24.25. The tears again liposome is $21 for the same size so just slightly cheaper but $5 for shipping something that small. I like that shipping won't take as long as with the other. I want to make sure i get the one that is best for very dry eyes though...any suggestions? And are there other products on the occusoft site that others would recommend? Thanks!

Vicki - The Tears Again Liposomal Eye Spray is one and the same as Clarymist (it should be a 10ml pump spray bottle, made from soy lecithin with vit A & E) - in the UK the Tears Again name was trademarked by an American company and we couldn't use it, hence we rebranded it as Clarymist. I'm not sure how it is that it's ok to use Tears Again in america, when that already appears to be another brand - perhaps the importers/distributors are less regulated/bothered!

We would happily ship to America, but it would just be the same product in different packaging, so no real point for you

Ian - we should have a stockist list soon - I'll let you know when we do in case your local Tesco isn't a test site.
