Hello I have been taking viscotears and optive for nearly 2 weeks. They only work for a couple of hours, just wondered when you have tried eye drops how long do you give them before trying something else. I know I have to wait a couple of weeks because my eyes are inflamed and dry though.

If Viscotears and Optive last a couple of hours you are doing great! For many of us, artificial tears simply evaporate within a few minutes before we are re-applying or using our moisture chamber glasses or scleral lenses. There is no waiting period for artificial tears to work, they either do or don't. In fact, they are just a short term bandage treatment that is better than nothing, but not good enough in my opinion.
