I also use Hypotears ointment, and was sad to find out recently that it has been discontinued. If you search for active drug products on Health Canada's website, the only Hypotears available is the drop... not the ointment. Sucks, since I loved the product.

Link to Health Canada's search page if you're interested:

I've switched back to Refresh Lacrilube ointment - it's almost the same, except it has lanolin, whereas the Hypotears did not. As long as you aren't sensitive to lanolin, it would be worth a try.

      Thank you SAAG !!
That is terrible news . I am sensitive to lanolin i believe
I have previously tried all ointments but my eyes burned on application.

Oh dear i am at a complete loss as to what to do now......I would have a good cry at the prospect of losing my sleep again but that would make my eyes worse Im sure.

          Not desperate, but SMART!

The ingredients for Hypotears oint. are simple and readily available so any pharmacy that specializes in compounding should be able to make it...keep looking until u find such a place!

              Soaps
To find out about getting it compounded I'd suggest calling Custom Care on 1300 725 868.
They compound azithromycin ointment for my wife and are very helpful.

thanks to AlisonW in another thread http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/showt...ght=#post87407 , it appears that this: http://www.amazon.com/PACK-EACH-GENT...nteal+ointment is the same as Hypotears ointment (even made by the same company) - I just placed an order and they will ship it to me in Canada, so maybe they'd do Australia too?

                  Hi
Thanks ill look at that!! but amazon is horrid for Australia shipping. i bought soothe ointment and tears again ointment. u might b able to find puralube ointment locally if the other doesn't work. In meantime i have a few boxes of hypotears i got after heappsss of searching.

                  compounding costs $80 too much.

Oh i bought soothe at discountlenses.com

let me know how u go with it.
