I wanted to ask you, what kind of cream/ ointment /do you use on tour upper lids ? i suppose i,m not the only one with dry and sore ones, mainly after washing them with blepharoshampoo ...i tried several, including ones made special for dry eyes ( Omegalid) ,but it seems all end up in the eyes ...i also teied antibiotic ointments ( bad) and cortisone creams( very bad) ....and i also would like to know if some of you acyually tryed Optimmune( this is the cyclosporine ointment for dry eyes in dogs & cats// in fact the doctor who invented it is the same who invented Restasis!) . we have it in Europe and i was thinking to give it a try, even if the concentration of Cycloorine is higher...i tried Restasis ,didn,t hurt my eyes, instead it hurt my nostrils and sinuses and i was afraid to continue...anyway ,i would like to know if some of you developed infections or even worst ,skin cancers after Restasis( skin around the eyes,nose,sinuses,rhinofarynx,mouth,tonsils....)

I have terribly sore eyelids as well, this is my major problem. I have MGD & Evaporative Dry Eye and nothing has come close to making things even managable during my 3 year battle with this ****. I use Sterilid in the shower which may be like the blepharoshampoo shampoo but nothing is really on the market for dry and inflammed eyelids. Mine get worse throughout the day, swell up worse during colder months, terrible when on CPU & watching TV/videogames. I haven't tried Cyclosporine yet and thats probably my next move but I can't get past the fact the thing takes 6 months to even show signs of working!

...i was thinking too at Manuka honey drops...but i can,t get them in Romania...i feel extremely bad myself, dry eyes with no relief from ANY artificial tears and sore eyelids ...i have Sogren disease and i think it affected me more than my mucous membranes...i recently found out there are some eye lids sprays ( mists ) for dry eyes .. Tears Again and another one Nature,s Tears ,,,again rhere are available only in the US,unfortunately for me i live in a country where Sogren is less common and therefore less known or well cured... wish you good luck

Hi LilliS,
I had problems with sunlight too, but don't anymore. As my eye surface healed, the light sensitivity went away. Wearing goggles was key to healing the eye surface as were punctal plugs. I use Ocusoft Original eye scrubs, and don't have much trouble anymore with dried lids. Also, when I began using goggles and and started using Q-Tips instead of fingers for expression, the irritation went away. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you.

Q tips are simply cotton buds.
There is a product called ILast Care that's designed specifically for dry and sore eyelids. I havent tried it personally, though.

Some people tolerate Vaseline around the eyes, too.

Do you too have spheroidal degeneration like me - caused by long exposure to UV of non-dimmable LCD monitor?
Do you too have UV-burn of your lids - ditto ditto?
How did you get hold of autologous eye drops?
I wish that my sickcare doctor (oops.. make that ophtho!) would have been so kind as to offer me a sample of autologous eye drops!
Unfortunately, this socialized country only countenances what the royal FDA sanctions.
And here's the limited options promoted by my ophtho - products which probably gave hefty bribes to the powers-that-be:
(1) Genteal gel
(2) Refresh Plus
As for the superior FreshKote? FUH-GED-ABOUD-IT. Not on the agenda of the socialists.
Regards from the USSR of A.
P.S. My fervent wish is that one day, all the uncaring and brutal practitioners who ever practiced, should get to KNOW that which was experienced by their numerous faceless patients. Yes, faceless, cuz they do not deign to communicate nor make eye contact.CHEERIO! HELIO! Dry Eye Minni

The autolougous serum drops have to be made from tour own blood...there are some places in Europe where this can be done,UK ,Germany,Spain and a lot more in the US .I was lucky to find one single doctor who makes them in my country ( Romania) .They healed my cornea, but didn,t do anything about my tears back...i have an auroimune disease, not sure yet if it,s Sogren or Mikulicz, who is destroying my lacrimal gland... usually the eye doctors are limited, they don,t see ( or know) the whole disease,if someone is suffering from a systemic illness than the local treatment doesn,t help so much....it seems your problem is with your eyes only qnd not the lqcrimal glands? or you don,t know yet,maybe......i tried agenteal and Refresh too...not any help for me...

ASD heal the damaged cornea...they are the best for that...but they don,t work on the lacrimwl gland,i still hqve no tears...rhey helped me / still help, only i have a huge problem with my nose because of them, they become like glue inside the nasal passages and make them swollen and dry and i can, breath and have to use saline solution to get rid of them from my nose...they are " heavy" ,rhey are not" light",they are mostly proteins ....i can,t find the eye drops with Manuka honey here nand i even don,t k ow if they could help me...tell me,are they stinging? i supose i should use cortison for the pain, but it,s bad for the cornea and could qlso rise the ocular pression....
