  • metro eye gel

Anyone know if you can obtain this some how? I use the regular metrogel around the eye area. I like how it makes my eyes feel more active... it feels like it really helps the elasticity around my eyes too.

The down fall to it is it sorta burns my eyes sometimes and it lasts for about 5 mins. I try to put in drops afterward to relieve it but its hella annoying and I don't know if I'm damaging the eye.

Also if I can't get the metro eye gel, anyone know of anything similar for the eye/eye region?

Actually I'm starting to wonder if the stinging i get around the eye area is actually damaging it. Like the slit area on the left side of the left eye and the right side of the right eye...

Which is it? Is it what you know or who you know? Or is it how well you convey what you know to who you know it to?

    Tim,
Unless I'm mistaken, I don't believe there is a topical metronidazole product approved for opthalmic used. Rosacea patients have sometimes been told by their doctors to use it carefully on their eyelids if the disease is present in the eyes. A woman on this site, Lynnie, succesfully used MetroGel as part of her regimen for years with good results. I have also seen several studies where MetroGel was used on the eyelids with varying degrees of efficacy. On the other hand, it seems like all of the docs that I have spoken with have advisd me not to use it as such, if and when a dermatologist prrescribes it. (I have ocular rosacea too)
If you are using any medication in a manner it was not approved for, you would definately be wise to consult with a doctor first. As you have no doubt realized by now, anything applied to the eyelids will most likely get into the eye itself. Hopefully, an eye friendly metronidazole product will be available soon.

According to the following study, topical metronidazole (metrogel) applied to the lid margin may be a safe and effective means of treating rosacea blepharitis:

But like Eli said, you should consult a doctor first.

When I use topical metrogel on my face, I find it really drying. I would be very afraid to use it anywhere near my eyes.

I don't find it drying myself but I have since stopped using it on my eyes. The anti inflammatory effect was nice, it made the eye area alot more elasticy feeling but it made my eye skin real sensitive. Like it was cut or something.
