What is the difference between Nutratear and Freshkote?

  • #2
The Dry Eye Encyclopedia has some descriptions and links to explain the differences. NutraTear has the B12 red color, and FreshKote doesn't--it has a lipid ingredient. I don't know that much about it, though.

Their only real similarity is that they both have a blending of two different grades of polyvinyl alcohol which is a key part of what gives Dr. Holly's drops their unique wetting profile.

Dwelle/Dakrina/FreshKote are all built on the same formula (where the actives are the two PVAs in high concentration plus povidone), where Dwelle is the original, Dakrina is Dwelle plus Vitamin A, and FreshKote is Dwelle plus Amisol Clear, a lipid-containing ingredient.

NutraTear by comparison has the two PVAs in much lower concentration and no povidone, but has vitamin B12. For more details about more substantive differences you might want to address the question to Dr. Holly in his forum.
