Me again. Sorry. When you say Genteal is good to use at night do you mean the drops or gel as I thought it is not good to use ointment with MGD. Thanks

Gels And Ointments

Genteal that most people here speak of using is a gel. It comes in a tube which looks like the tube that ointment comes in. Ointments and gels differ in that ointments have an oily base. Gels do not. They are thick but contain no oil. Also, Genteal makes a thinner version of a gel that comes in a bottle.

Genteal doesmake an ointment, but from what I read here, it is not usually recommended.

I'm sure someone here can give a better explanation, but it is a common thing to mistake one for the other...but they are far from the same thing.

Why are ointments not good for MGD? Does it clog the glands?

Also...my compounding pharmacy can make ointments for the eye, but they do contain petrolium and parabens. Anyone know if these ingredients could cause adverse reactions for ocular rosacea or dermatitis?
