  • brimonidine & pain relief?

    hello,

I ran a google search on dry eye and pain, and came across a patent that was filed in 2003 for the use of brimonidine for ocular pain. Brimonidine is the ingredient in Alphagan; was wondering if anyone else had heard of using it for corneal pain. Looks like Leiter's compounds a 0.1% and 0.075% pf solution ($98/10 mL). don't know if any cornea doc would go for it or not though; probably would want someone to exhaust typical means first

Scott, some of us (including me) have used Alphagan to see if it would improve our after-lasik bad vision because it constricts the pupils and makes "starburst" smaller. I used it one time and it made my eyes more dry and very sore. It did help the starburst somewhat, but not worth the extra pain. Lucy

      Hi,

yup, I had the same reaction, so I stopped using them. I called the cornea doc to tell them that and they didn't believe me. I don't know why I go to my eye doc if they don't believe what i tell them
